Exciting Updates: VBDC will be sending Applications to the Virginia ABC

We’re thrilled to announce that starting this October, the Virginia Beer Distribution Company (VBDC) will begin submitting applications to the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) on behalf of our brewery partners. This is a major milestone in launching our distribution network, bringing your products to retailers across the Commonwealth.

Updates for Breweries:

New Transaction Fees Approved

Last month, the VBDC board of directors approved the following per transaction fees:

• 3% for limited brewery licensees

• 4% for brewery licensees

These fees will support the expansion of our distribution services, ensuring that your craft brews are available to a wider audience. For more details on the process, visit the breweries page on our website.

Application Costs and Requirements

As you prepare to submit your application, keep in mind the following costs:

• $195.00 non-refundable application fee

• $1,005.00 annual state license fee

• Additional posting and publishing costs (varies by local newspaper)

Important Reminder: Review Your TTB Paperwork

The Virginia ABC allows the VBDC licensed space to be located anywhere on the brewery’s property. However, if the VBDC licensed space falls within a bonded area, your brewery’s floor plan with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) may need to be amended. It’s crucial to check for any necessary amendments to avoid disruptions in your operations.
